Dev Update #1: It's about to become "Unreal" 👀

Dev Update

March 15, 2022

Vision Raft is about to get "Unreal", but we promise in a really good way!

As you know by now, Vision Raft is a VR platform, so you could say we're creating "unreal" things and showing them to people using VR headsets. But behind every good software or high functioning platform, there has to be a solid and futureproofed tool that allows the developers/designers to create what they want freely and easily. This is why after careful considerations, we have decided to go with Unreal Engine, the state-of-the-art game engine from Epic Games (creators of Fortnite).

But why a game engine? Well, let us walk you through. What we’re creating here, acts exactly like a video game. Players wear a VR headset, go to the game they want, and start interacting with the environment/objects. Just like a video game. So instead of creating a tool from scratch, we decided to go with a solid platform that not only provides industry-standard tools for developing video games, but even supports VR productions.

We’re hard at work to adjust a proper production pipeline in Unreal Engine, and can’t wait to show you what we’ve been doing!
